Client and Community Assistant

Fresh Start Women's Foundation

Fresh Start Women's Foundation provides education, resources and support for women to positively transform their lives and strengthen our community.

About the Internship

Help women dealing with life transitions and challenges. Serve as a Client Relations Assistant or Volunteer and Outreach Assistant. Choose the position that best suits your skills and interests.

Client Relation Assistants are the first point of contact for welcoming all clients, guests, and volunteers to the center. Client Relations is intensely focused on providing a high level of customer service with a level of empathy and understanding of the diverse situations which bring clients into the center. You will have a high level of interaction with clients and community members, responding to in-person and telephone inquiries for information. You will refer women to the most appropriate Fresh Start staff member or department, depending on their expressed needs.

Volunteer and Outreach Assistants will help facilitate the continuation of services at Fresh Start by helping to spead awareness about the organization and connecting with passionate community members. You will serve the Fresh Start population and the community at large by finding and attending outreach events on behalf of the organization. You will also assist with recruiting and onboarding volunteers, soliciting in-kind donations, and coordinating/leading computer literacy classes for the clients at Fresh Start Women's Foundation.

Population Served:

Our services are available to any woman who is at least 18 years old. Many of the women who visit our Women’s Resource Center are currently dealing with a life transition; this includes issues like divorce, domestic violence, unemployment and underemployment, changing careers, having a child, experiencing a loved one’s death, and more. All of our services are free or low-cost in order to accommodate the nearly 90% of our clientele with a household income less than the Maricopa County median ($56,000).

Community Need:

Thousands of women visit our Women's Resource Center each year, and as a Client Relations Assistant, you will be one of the first people to welcome them. These women come from all walks of life and are utilizing our services in an effort to improve their lives in some way. Our mission is to empower women to transform their lives through engagement and education; we're able to achieve this mission through the services of our education, legal, self-esteem, career, and social work departments.

Community Impact:

Fresh Start guides women in need to the appropriate resource for their situation, as well as provides a level of customer service that enables our clients to find a sense of peace and enrichment. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the unique circumstances that affect women in the central Phoenix community and to make a difference in the experiences of those that come to our center.
