About the Internship


Help support the regular teachers with students in the following areas:
* Science projects
* Technology / games
* Physical education
* Math / math games
* Reading

Our summer school will be operate from the end May through June. USL interns must ensure they meet their direct service requirements during these months.

During the month of July, we will be working to get classrooms ready for the start of the new school year. Decorating, cleaning, organizing classrooms, sorting curriculum and supplies, preparing for our open house, uniform sales, etc.

Population Served:

We are a Title I school serving students from inner city Mesa. All students at our school qualify for Free breakfast and lunch.
Students in our summer program will be from kindergarten through 6th grade.

Community Need:

Some of our students are required to attend summer school in order to advance to the next grade.

The balance of our students attend summer program where we offer a safe place for them during the day. It is a structured summer program of Science, Math, Technology, PE and Reading.

Community Impact:

Weserve about 40 students every day in our summer program.

We are also an open site for the City of Mesa offering free breakfast and lunch for any child ages 0 - 18 during the month of June. This helps families experiencing food insecurity during the summer months.
