ASU Preparatory Academy provides personalized, university embedded academic programs that empower students to complete college, excel in a global society and contribute to their communities.
About the InternshipDuties:
Interns will assist teachers and work directly with students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. Opportunities exist for working with students one on one, leading groups of students in after school enrichment classes, supervising games and recreation during recess, Saturday school, assisting with junior high and high school sports programs, or mentoring individual students, and/or assisting students with special needs.
ASU Prep serves over 1400 students in grades Kindergarten through grade 12. Over eighty percent of our students come from low-income families and over seventy-five percent of our students are minorities.
Our students need mentors, and examples of "real" college students to understand that college is a possibility for them.
ASU Preparatory Academy Phoenix is loacted in downtown Phoenix, two blocks from the downtown ASU campus. Our mission is to prepare all of our students to succeed in college, compete globally, and to become leaders in their communities. We do this through a rigorous curriculum and by providing a well-rounded education that includes arts, music, sports and a strong after school program. Many of our students are eligible for "free and reduced" lunch and come from families where they will be the first one to attend college. Our students need role models who can share a passion and love for learning and articulate the need for excellence in school.
Interns will serve as positive role models for students. Interns will help students to improve academic skills by giving tutoring and/or teaching. Families and students will make a connection to college students enrolled in higher education. Setting goals for future success will be enhanced and encouraged.
