To alleviate hunger through the gathering and distribution of food while encourgaing self-sufficiency, collaboration, advocacy, and education.
About the InternshipDuties:
Interns will integrate themselves within a variety of departments, i.e. Community Relations, Food Drive, or Fund Development while having the opportunity to provide assistance within our Client Based Food Distribution Center, as well as assisting the department of Volunteer engagement to highlight their experience at the Food Bank. Duties will include:
- Support VE with recruitment of new leads
- Assist with management of volunteers and numbers
- Help with the Volunteer Welcome Orientation
- Make phone calls, return calls, and client intake
- Assist VE team with managing volunteer questions and confirmations
- Familiarize with our CRM portal, Salesforce
The population served will vary, but will primarily consist of any and all individuals affected by individual/familial food insecurity within the St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance service territory who rely on Emergency Food Boxes to feed their family. Currently nearly 1 in 4 children, 1 in 5 Arizonans, and 1 in 7 seniors in Arizona live in poverty; making Arizona, the top 3rd state with food insecurity. Nearly 18% of the population of Arizona lives in food insecurity.
This service internship will address: Hunger and Food Insecurity within the St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance service territory, specifically, within the Central Phoenix community, as well as the involvement of getting new prospects to join in the journey of alleviating hunger.
The intern's duties will positvely aid the food bank as they will join the fight against hunger in Arizona. As he or she will contribute new ideas, build new relationships amongst new prospects, and help improve the volunteer experience, ultimately leading to new donations and new members in the journey against hunger.
